Welcome to the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging HCI Academy Micro-Credential course!
This course is designed to take approximately 8-10 hours to complete.
Learning Objectives for this Course Include:
1, Describe key frameworks related to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
2. Explain systemic barriers that undermine diversity and inclusion efforts and identify strategies to address them.
3. Discuss how immigration can contribute to innovation, economic growth, and diverse work cultures.
4. Analyze challenges faced by underrepresented groups in attaining leadership roles and identify best practices for promoting inclusion.
5. Apply principles of transparency, accountability and fairness to evaluate emerging technologies.
6. Develop strategies for respectfully sharing perspectives, encouraging constructive disagreement, and resolving conflicts.
These learning outcomes emphasize both practical application and personal development around creating and maintaining inclusive organizational cultures of belonging.

In the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging self-paced, asynchronous 8-10 - hour upskilling micro-credential course, you will complete the following 5 Guest Discussion sessions:
- Guest Discussion 1 - IDEA (Inclusion = Diversity + Equity + Accessibility)
- Guest Discussion 2 - Mitigating Systemic Institutional Barriers
- Guest Discussion 3 - How Immigration Contributes to Innovation & Economic Growth
- Guest Discussion 4 - Women's Abilities to Seek, Prepare for, & Attain Leadership
- Guest Discussion 5 - Training Tech Talent from Underserved Communities
In each session, you will need to watch the approximately 25-30 - minute video, reflect on your key take-aways and personal and organizational application, and participate in the discussion forum.
You will also watch the following topical explainer videos (approximately 10 minutes each) and reflect on your key take-aways and personal and organizational application:
- Video 1 - Building Trust in AI Transparency, Accountability, and Fairness
- Video 2 - The Changing Ambitions of Workers Adapting Leadership
- Video 3 - Finding the Courage to Speak Up: Respectfully Share Perspectives
- Video 4 - Encouraging Constructive Disagreement in the Workplace
- Video 5 - Mastering Workplace Conflicts Strategies for Success
Additionally, you will be required to complete and apply three readings, a learning activity, personal and organizational assessment activities, a podcast listening assignment, a short course exam, final application assessment, a final learning reflection, and a course evaluation in order to finish the course.
Once you have completed all of the course requirements, you will receive a micro-credential certificate and achievement badge, which you will be able to include in the education, certificates, and achievements section on your LinkedIn profile and on your resume.
